About Erin Gibson

I am a figurative oil painter based in Pennsylvania, exploring the deeply human themes of identity, emotion, portraiture, and transformation. My work invites viewers to sit with the complexity of what it means to inhabit a life — to feel, to endure, to become.

A lifelong artist, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Art from the State University of New York at Purchase in 2001. Over the decades since, my practice has continued to deepen, guided by a commitment to painting the interior landscape of human experience through studying faces and abstract portraiture.

My current body of work reflects an ongoing inquiry into how we carry ourselves through change, healing the past through representations of reclaiming, repurposing, and restoration. Each piece is one of a kind, made to live with and be lived alongside.
