Artist Statement
The evolution of each painting has a life of its own. It has mistakes along the way. Some of them, it has to live with. Opportunities can come and go. Once in awhile, everything falls into place.
I try to let them communicate back to me. They tell me what they want and don't want. What they need, and don't need.
If I'm in a state of denial, I'll think something is done, when in fact it is nowhere near being done. So I have to break through that denial and keep going.
I like to see people repurposing images of ancient sculptures to make flower pots and candles and things. It represents where we're at. When it comes to remembering that other societies before us rose and fell, that's just about all we can tolerate.
